The Mercenary

The beast would roar. A few of the shotgun shots seemed to pierce the heart, but most seemed to bounce off. The card armor seemed to cover up the heart in the back. The beast turned, swinging it's cleaver vertically towards Makito and displaying it's exposed heart- this time in the front.

Makito blocks out the roar of the beast, watching at the armor reconfigured itself. All he had to do was keep hitting the open spot in its armor until it fell, he wasn't sure what genius designed the armor to have a giant weakspot though. Makito leapt to the side, narrowly avoiding the vertical slash from the cleaver. He quickly threw his sawn-off shotgun away, not having time to reload and pulled out a Glock series pistol, repeatedly firing off shots into the exposed part of the heart in the front of it's chest.

The beast roared. The armored closed over the heart again as expected, and the heart would become visible on the back. As this happened, the beast spun, attempting to smash Makito with the flat end of it's cleaver.

Makito hit in the chest with the cleavers flat end, sent hurtling backwards like a ragdoll. He got back up, stumbling and gripping his gun again. This time, he charged the beast head on, attempting to slide under it and send multiple shots into the heart from behind again. Afterwards, he would run out of ammo and ditch that pistol as well This is going to get complicated soon..

The beast seemed to recoil from it's own swinging. As the bullets hit it's heart, the cards seemed to slowly peel off. It let out one final roar before falling to it's knees. It's skin began to peel away as well, until nothing was left but a key.

Makito walked over, picking up the key and pocketing it. He looked around for anything the key may go into.

In the distance, a door could be seen, similar to the one that Makito had been pulled into prior. "Very well, this has benefited us both. You may now leave, I suppose." A voice called.

Makito shrugged, walking over to the door, inserting the key into the lock if it had one, and opening it in order to leave. It had been a rather strange job, but he got paid and was still alive so it wasn't all as bad as he expected.

The door opened, displaying the alleyway that Makito had come from. "Go on now, don't dilly dally."

Makito stepped through the door, leaving the odd area. He wondered where the hell he went, obviously these floating doors couldn't have been real. When he exited into the alleyway, he opened the pouch to see what was inside, only finding a bunch of solid gold orbs. "Tch, figures." he said, walking out to the street. He took his wooden sign and scratched on 'Golden Orbs For Sale' under Man For Hire, causing him to get quite a bit of attention.
